Enduring Love
On the horizon where the land meets the sea ,
I see an angel beckon to you and me,
But my heaven remains on earthly plains,
I toast you my dear with natures champagne,
Angels may beckon and call out my name
Within me though burns a bright, bright flame,
Burning bright and strong with love for you,
Delving deep into your eyes of sapphire blue,
I see your memories of me are now diminished,
But my love for you is never ending, enduring
Never to be finished !

ReplyDeleteI see your memories of me are now diminished,
ReplyDeleteOh, I know a number of my friends who have one parent going through memory loss of one kind or another. This is sweet, poignant poem.
'...But thy eternal summer shall not fade
ReplyDeleteNor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee....'
Shakespeare in the 21st century...;-) I like you style..Very well done!
True Love endures all...even memory loss.
ReplyDeleteAlzheimer's is a nasty disease. My Grandmother has been walking down the road of dementia and it has changed her into someone she would never have wanted to be. But memories last eternal, and in those lies the love enduring.
ReplyDeleteI just wrote about that very topic in my blog last week
very touching, thank you
ReplyDeleteA "enduring love" is eternal, lives with us in this life and for eternity. It's the only thing that survives.
