I Want To Be Free

I Want To Be Free

I want to be three,
I want to scream,and shout,
I want to jump in puddles,
Kick autumn leaves about!

I want to be three,
I want to play with abandon,
I want to scream with glee,
Bash drums dressed as a bandsman!

I want to be three,
I want to be swaddled in love,
I want the sleep of the innocent,
Snuggled up like a hand to a glove.

I want to be free,
I want no deadlines,or pains,
I want the sleep of the innocent,
To awaken in a land where childhood forever reigns.

I want to be free!

  4. Lovely. I can picture myself in wellington boots jumping in puddles at three, before the stress of school started! A beautiful poem that sounds almost like a lullaby.

  7. It does sound attractive, but think of all the wonder you'd miss that can only be enjoyed through expanded experience. Great stuff, here, Kez!

  9. It would be nice not to have any responsibilities but I have to agree with Kim, life is a journey which we must all experience..the good & the bad.

    Nice write though.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  13. Yes! I want to be three, I dream of going back that far and starting over, never forsaking the fun that life is supposed to offer. We should all have one day a week where we can kick and scream and run and play, and all those things that remind us this ol'life is really worth living! Loved this...especially today! Thank you

  18. A Pure and simple poetic relief contrastd against a backdrop of infinite depth; a remarkable symphony of diametrics that is altogether pleasing.
